The word "sakura" (桜 or さくら) is the Japanese word for cherry blossom and has a very special meaning: the blossom symbolizes spring, the beauty of nature and renewal. At the same time, however, it also stands for the transience of life, because the cherry blossom only lasts for a short time. It reminds us that life is short and that it must be enjoyed and lived to the fullest.
